In the area

Campsite Polderflora is located in the middle of the Green Heart of Holland: surrounded by green and still with many interesting cities only a short drive away. That is what makes our campsite a perfect starting point to explore Holland. There is a lot to see and to do in the West of Holland, no matter what the weather looks like!

Jump on your bike as many Dutch people do and feel, smell and hear the beauty of the countryside of Holland. You will be surprised by the typical Dutch  ‘polder’-landscapes with green paddocks,  waterways, grazing cows and willows. Just a 30 minute bike ride away, you will reach historic cities like Gouda and Leiden. Using the detailed cycling-point system, it is very easy to find your way around by bike and to plan your routes, starting directly from our campsite. It is very safe to ride a bike in Holland, since there are many tracks that are accessible only for bikes; no danger or noise of cars or other traffic. A very relaxing and active way of travelling!

Can’t wait to plan your cycling routes? Then take a look at the following website of the Tourist Information: Cycling Planner Green Heart

If you are not able to bring your own bikes, you can rent normal or ebikes at the Railway station in Alphen aan den Rijn, at approx 2,5km from our campsite.

We have an indoor bike storage where you can safely park your bikes after a nice day of cycling around!

"Staying overnight in the Randstad."

Not only  the famous Holland must-sees are worth a visit, there are also many attractions around the corner. You can all reach them easily by bike. For more information you can click on the name of the attraction or museum.

 Experience Holland: famous must-sees:

Our campsite Polderflora is located very centrally in the west of Holland. Therefore it is a comfortable haven to explore the most interesting cities in the ‘Randstad’. We have listed some city-highlights for you which are within easy reach. Click on the name of the city and you will be directed to the corresponding tourist information-website.

* Leiden (15km) ‘city of discoveries’
This beautiful old city has a lot to offer and can be reached by bike, train or car. With its many terraces and restaurants, Leiden is  a lively city. Enjoy the historical buildings and let a guide take you back in time while telling you all about the history of the city. If the weather is not so nice, visit one of the 13 museums that are worth visiting.

* Gouda ( 14km) ‘say cheese’
Gouda is just a small city but full of Dutch history. Visit the cheesemarket or see the famous stained Glass of the Sint-Jans church.

* The Hague (31km) ‘royal city by the sea’
The Hague is the city where the political heart of Holland beats, where the King of the Netherlands has his office in his working-palace and where you can find yourself a giant in Madurodam, a small country’s highlights. The Hague is easy to reach by car and by public transport. On the Park&Ride areas on the outskirt of the city you can park safely and cheap and get a ticket for public transport for free! A excellent way to explore this interesting city.

* Amsterdam (42 km) ‘I amsterdam’
“With world-class museums, quirky festivals, theatre, live music, laid-back bars and delightful restaurants, there’s never a shortage of things to do in Amsterdam!” This slogan is Amsterdam in a nutshell. If you plan a visit to our capital city, you can go by car and use of the many Park&Rides or take a train and see the dutch landscape passing by.

* Rotterdam (40km) ‘city of innovation and inspiration’
Lonely Planet’s Travelguide has mentioned the city of Rotterdam in their top-10 Best-to-Travel in 2016. Rotterdam has earned this title because of its mix of touristic attractions, its modern and innovative architecture and many restaurants and bars. Also a visit to the spectular harbour may not be forgotten.

Utrecht (38km)  ‘city of castles’
Maybe not so famous at the other big cities, but Utrecht is worth visiting. Enjoy the canals, old buildings and don’t forget to visit one of the castles in the surroundings.

* Delft (35km) ‘city of Delft Blue’
Famous for its Delft blue, city of painter Vermeer and where many members of the Royal Family married and got buried.
